Change in Conflict of Interest Laws

Recent changes to conflict of interest laws that were passed as part of the recent legislation known as Ethics Reform are scheduled to take effect on September 29, 2009.

The changes include mandatory training for municipal employees and designation by each community of an Ethics Commission liaison.

The new law also explicitly prohibits employees from presenting false claims to their employers for payment.

For more details, take a look at the MMA summary on the web; or the Ethics Commission website at www.mass.gov/ethics.

Call any any of our attorneys if you have questions regarding this change in the law.
